- stare blankly
- inhale once through my nose in a loud way and exhale silently
- say, "well."
- stay very quiet for a long time
- take a shower
- go to sleep at a strange time of day
- think about what would happen if i fell and broke my arm right then
- swear intermittently over the course of several hours
- cry
- blame myself
- blame other people
- decide to cancel my plans and stay home
- try to figure out how i would write down the roaring in my head in syllables
- compare myself to other people
- list all the things on the planet i currently find disappointing
- ask my dad (who passed away 10 years ago) why this happened
- think about exercising
- say out loud that something better is coming
- smoosh my face into my husband's shirt
- open the refrigerator door over and over and over again
these are things i do at home, in private (or mostly private). i don't know what anyone else does when they're very disappointed because they are also at home, in private. but i'd like to know. i'd like to know for character research and because i like lists and because other people's habits are really super interesting to me.
so. i'm curious: what do you do when you're very disappointed about something? (don't forget: you can leave a comment as "anonymous" if you don't want your name attached.)
Unfortunately, I eat.
ReplyDeleteyep, i'm adding this one to the list. you are not alone there.
DeleteHmmm, let's see. I also do #s 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10,11,12,14, 16 (yes, I talk to him too even tho' he is not my Dad), and 20. There are probably other insanities that I put myself through but you covered it pretty well.
ReplyDeleteha! i bet there are a whole lot of people talking to pops when they need a boost...much the same as when he was living!
